The Longest Climb
Mount Teide dominates Tenerife.
It is the third highest volcano in the world and still currently active. The road winding up its slope is the longest continuous ascent in Europe, requiring to ride for more than 60 kilometres before reaching its summit.
It has been a favourite training climb of some of the world’s strongest cyclists over the years, and pro teams still visit Teide for warm weather training.
As a photographer passionate about the outdoors and with several tens of thousands of kilometres ridden on my bike I have been looking to visit Tenerife and its legendary roads for years.
This collection of images is a visual exploration of the landscapes, the roads, the nuances of this otherworldly, challenging and demanding island.
A tribute to the longest climb.
